Top 5 Games of 2016

Top 5 Games of 2016

My favourite top 5 games of 2016 that stood out the most to me this year. Hope you guys like it!

Starting it off at number five is Firewatch. Firewatch is a very immersive walking simulator, but besides the gorgeous visuals, the characters feel authentic, and the narrative is absolutely fantastic. Firewatch has a lot of character, and stands out from other walking simulators I’ve played giving it 5th place this year.

top5-01 Taking 4th place, Quern – Undying Thoughts. With well-balanced puzzles, tons of puzzle diversity, and varying puzzle complexity, I was blown away by Quern. I love puzzle games, and the multitude of well-thought-out puzzles that Quern offers is astounding. I would be stuck on some of the puzzles for hours, and then facepalm for not noticing the obvious details. Puzzles like that, that give you that “aha” moment, and don’t make you frustrated are a rare find. Quern surpassed all of my expectations, making it my forth favourite game this year.

In 3rd place, we’ve got DOOM. DOOM is a fast-paced action packed game that is just a blast to play. With excellent music, thrilling combat, and a surprisingly good story. I just had so much fun playing DOOM, and the whole package is impressive, netting DOOM 3rd place.

In the number 2 spot: Stardew Valley! Stardew Valley is the single player game that I have put the most amount of time into all year. As a beautiful love letter to the Harvest Moon series, Stardew Valley does everything right, and it’s an absolute gem of a game. It’s incredibly addicting to play, and has so much content to offer. It’s such a fun game, and the sheer amount of passion and attention to detail that went into everything that this game encompasses is what gives Stardew Valley my second favourite game of the year.

In the first place spot, it’s none other than Overwatch. Overwatch is one of those games that I keep going back to in between other games. Whether I feel like supporting, shooting people in the back, or smashing people’s faces in, Overwatch always offers me something no matter what mood I’m in. The unique character playstyles, content updates, brawls, and special events always offers something fresh, and keeps me coming back.

2016 has brought so many amazing games, and I hope 2017 will be just as good or maybe even better! Thank you to everyone for all the love and support, it’s been an awesome year guys, happy holidays, and have a safe, and wonderful New Year.
